Please give me your opinion on the control panel layout I designed for my new project.

I would move the centerline of the trackball to be in line with the centerline of the joysticks. Also, you might want to try and squeeze a spinner in there somewhere...
-
Nice and simple. I agree with all of Havok's comments.

Yeah, if you're a fan of Golden Tee, you'll want the trackball as far back as possible, you'll be slamming your fingers.

yeah, looks good and clean. though, I agree that you might be wise to bring the tball a bit closer to the front to provide more room for wailing on it without fear of hitting those admin buttons in the back, or the bottom of your monitor bezel for that matter. ;)
Other than that, it just depends on what you hoping to achieve with it/what games you are most interested in playing, etc. You've got a great two player/fighter setup with that neo-geo layout, which looks great.
I would just say (And no, this isn't just to invite an argument...err "discussion" on admin buttons...) that think twice, and three double-check that all over again - IOW just be as certain as you can that you have all and only the buttons that you really want/need for you to be happy with your CP.
Ok, that's all I'll say about that, but the last thing I'd bring up is just the overall design of the wood/CP itself. If you're going to fit it into a cabinet so that it doesn't stick out past the sides of your cabinet, then there's not much more you can do with your general layout than what you've got. but at 30", you might be outside the standard width of some cabinet designs, and if that's the case, then you might want to consider whether or not you want that CP to come out with plain jane 90 degree corners - all box like, or if you want to cut out some diagonals, or get really fancy and cut a curve, etc.
not so say that square corners are bad, I've seen lots of two players CP's that are square like that, so that might work out fine.
ok, I'm rambling again, but your CP looks good, I'd just say that if you haven't already, spend some time thinking about the overal aesthetics of your CP design now, you've got the functional part down, now just try and figure out how best to package that into a design you'll love for many years.

What are you doing about admin buttons and quarters?

Thank you all so very much for your comments. I think I will take your advice and bring the track ball down a bit. my cabinet is 28 1/4" wide (it will house a 27" TV). So I figured this would be a good width for a control panel for that width of cabinet.
I would add a spinner but I can't afford one right now. This CP is going to be a temporary one untill i can affor to buy all the parts i want for the 4 player CP I had invisioned for my cab. As of now this is the design I have come up with for the parts I currently own. Oh and btw those are not admin buttons they are mouse buttons because this will function as a multimedia, karaoke, MAME, Console emulator, and jukebox. all the admin buttons will be accesed buy using the iPac sift commands.

The admin button will be accomplished with iPac shift commands. and i also have a keyboard drawer if i need more access.
There will be on coin button on the left and right of the panel under the CP overhang about 5 inches form the flipper buttons.
Updated control layout as well (moved the trackball down)
