I am buying a new joystick soon. But I managed to land two leaf-switch joysticks to play around with until I get the new one.
Anyway, just for fun I have the leaf-switch going on my computer but it's real mushy, doesn't respond well, and sometimes doesn't center properly.
Any hope to get this working better?
Thanks!

New grommets from Ponyboy.

Yeah. If it's not centering, it's possible that the grommet's completely ripped through on one side. I'd take it apart and look at it, but my guess is that getting a new grommet is your answer.

Well, that would involve me spending money which is something I don't want to do on it. :-D
Oh well, thanks anyway.

What kind of leaf switch sticks are they ?
Cheers.

Someone would be willing to buy those from you, so don't toss them out! Post in the buy/sell/trade forum.
(Assuming CheffoJeffo doesn't want them first. Looks like he's contemplating calling dibs.) :)

I'm mainly curious ... if he comes back with 'Wico', I'll shake my head sadly in disbelief at his not wanting to fix them ... it would be like not wanting to buy a new battery so you could drive that Ferrari 365 GTB Daytona Spyder in the driveway.
I have a few Wicos lying around (not for sale!), so I am not calling dibs... I knew that hoarding parts would come in handy some day!
Cheers.

I *think* they are Wico?????
They are from a Twin Eagle cab (8-way).
What do you think they would be worth? The shaft is a little rusty looking so I don't know how well that could be cleaned up.
How do I tell what kind they are?

It's either on the top or bottom of the portion that mounts. (My Wicos have the text in a semicircle setup.

I will try to look tonight and find out.
And just think, I was more excited about fixing up the coin mechs :-D

Post some pics if you can't tell. We will let ya know.

Would love to but the wife has the camera in FL right now. :-\

Not to hijack the thread, but I just pulled a Wico from this cab I'm working on (has Wico printed on it and everything). But switches are in sorry shape, contacts broken off in some places and the rest ready to go. I had no idea someone might want it in that sorry state.

Wicos are eminently fixable .. if you can find the parts like grommets (Ponyboy) and switches.
You kids and your newfangled microswitches ... grumble ...whippersnappers ... grumble ... ;D
Cheers.

It certainly is for Robotron fans ... and some, like me, prefer Wicos for most anything (although I gather they would be teh suck for fighters).
Nice discovery - I bet you get some PMs now.
Cheers.

Can they be converted to 4-ways????
-
If you buy/find a 4-way Wico base, yes. A proper 4-way has a smaller actuator as well, but you can make that from hardware store parts. Might be easier to just trade for a 4-way, if you can find a forum member that's interested.
-
Well, I am still going to buy a new stick for my cab. So, I might just hang on to these puppies unless someone is REALLY interested. :->

Check your local used goods stores and garage sales. You can use the grommets found inside these:
