I want to use my left and right joystick movements to go up or down a letter with mala. I can't find the setting. Is there one?
-
yep... see attached
-
ok. I clicked that and using the left or right arrows doesn't move the game list up or down by letters.
On a previous screen I notice that left and right is assigned to X up and X down. Does that have anything to do with anything?
-
These are the default controller settings:
(http://mala.arcadezentrum.com/screenshots/controller1.gif)
As you can see cursor left/right is assigned to switch the game list.
Cursor up/down PLUS 'Shift' is assigned to x up and x down.
The 'Shift' key is assigned to the Ctrl key. (Player 1 Button 1 for the MAME default)
So Ctrl + cursor up/down will jump by interval or letter.
Have a look to this page if you want to reassign some keys:

german - english keys:
oben = up
unten = down
links = left
richts = right
strg = ctrl

here is what it looks like when installed on a English PC using the latest version:

Swindus,
Any thoughts on allowing user to define keys to do BOTH options... Up/down interval AND Up/Down letter?
-
Yes, I will add the letter up/down function to the controller set, so you can use both options to scroll thru the lists.
