Friend wants a box "remodded" with a HD upgrade..
While i can do it via softmod, he WANTS a modchip.. so, were giong to do one..
BUT, im not doing any soldering, not on someone else box.. So, being out of the modchip loop for a while, whats the "Best" right now for solderless..

I bought a xenium gold with teh SP solderless adapter. It was very easy and works well, but it isn't teh cheapest option out there by far. There is a new chip called the hyper X that is supposed to be a pretty good solderless solution on teh cheap. dunno if they released it yet though

I am EXTREMLY happy with both my xenium ice and xenium gold and would recomend them to anyone. Neither are installed solderlessly but are available in solderless options.
P.S. To the best of my knowledge Ice and Gold chips are EXACTLY the same thing but the gold chip doesn't have "quick solder" points which you wouldn't care about anyways doing a solderless...

I'll vouch for the Xenium Spice. Works well. Easy enough to install. I think the SmartXX is a better chip and their solderless solution looks good (better in some ways), but I've never used it so I can't say more than that.
Once you have the chip installed and you've verified that everything is working take a hot glue gun to everything to ensure that it all stays in place.

Totally agreed there.. Hotglue wins
Xenium it is i suppose..

Yah I went with the Xenium SPICE myself; worked great on my 1.0 Xbox. I didn't need to use the adaptor for a 1.6 xbox but held onto it in case I ever buy another.

One more yes for xenium SPIce, one thing though, once you have the legs in the proper spots for d0 and the like, and it tests good, it's a good idea to hotglue them down, nothing more annoying than moving it to another room, only to find out you need to open it up and pop em back in:-)
cheers!
