I wanna use MAMEWAH as my frontend for MAME and many console emulators (SNES, NES, Genesis, Coleco, Gameboy, Gamegear, etc...) and I want it to automatically boot up when I start up my computer (I am running XP and I want it to be such that everything is controllable with joysticks and buttons.
I just don't have time to configure it all, so does anyone know of some sort of website that has some preconfigured MAMEWAH settings?
Thanx!
Yes, I have done a google/search on here

damn dude, that is the shiznit!
Does this page get updated often?
-
Not sure how often it gets updated, but he answers tons of Mamewah questions (as does Minwah of course) at the Mameworld.net Mamewah Forum. You can also post questions in the Software forum here, but you'll probably get a faster answer at Mameworld
-
Also, if you want easy startup config - check out AtomicFE and all his Plug and Play modules...

Only problem is they are all for the latest 1.62b10 beta which crashes immediately on my system as several others have noted here:

Anyone know of any configs like this for the latest official version (1.61)?
-
looks like I will be trying atomicfe
mamewah loks so complicated
-
ahofle, try asking jcrouse if he has them for 1.61. I know he used to have those on his site. Are there particular ones you want? I think I have MAME, Daphne and Intellivision (Nostalgia) INI files for 1.61 floating around somewhere if those will help.

Ummm, how about this:

Worked pretty painless for me w/ 1.61. Just really the basics though. When things get complicated I have an easier time with the 'old fashioned' way.
-
Good call Dustin. I had forgotten about that since I'm knee deep in 1.62 these days.
-
Just get 1.62. It's a slightly different heirarchal system, but that's it. No major bugs that I've found personally.
-
so which should I go for... ATOMICFE or mamewah ? I want it to be easily configurable and to start up when I boot my computer
-
Atomic FE is no doubt easier to setup with all the plug and play modules that are available. However, I don't feel mamewah is as hard as some people make it sound. Really, a good amount of the work required to do this will be emulator related. Once you have those properly setup, pointing your FE at them really isn't that hard so maybe you could try out both because a lot of the work will overlap between the two...at least in the beginning stages.
As far as having them start when windows does, that really shouldn't be an issue for any FE. Just put a shortcut to the FE's exe in your startup folder on your programs menu. Now, if you were thinking of something a little more in depth like shelling your FE, then I think that might limit your options a bit more. I know mamewah is capable of this but I am not sure about Atomic. I have noticed that the byoac member that supports Atomic (Youki) seems very willing to help people use Atomic in ways other then he originally programed it for. So if it isn't already capable of this I would imagine he would help you modify it to be.
If you haven't already, head over and do some reading on the wiki. Lots of good info on there on these same topics.

ect...

You currently can't shell directly to AtomicFE - but Youki is working on that, perhaps in the newest version, which he has said is going to be released soon. However there is a workaround: you can shell to a batch file which calls Atomic, and it will work.

Considering that you are just starting off, I would recommend just placing the exe in your startup folder and try it out like that for now...
