Can this be fixed by installing new capacitors or is something else the culprit? Any input would be appreciated.

Yes, that's called "vertical foldover" and it's definitely a capacitor problem.

Thank you once again Ken. Looks like I'll be doing a few cap kits over the next week. One on my Pac and two on this Punch-Out. -Jarrett

I'm getting ready to do a cap kit on both monitors in my Nintendo Puchout cabinet. The one monitor looks ok, but as you can see in the picture above the other one has "vertical foldover" as diagnosed by Ken. As Ken pointed out some changes in the caps on my Electrohome G07-CBO 19 inch that is in my Pac-Man cabinet I was wondering if there are some specific things I need to watch out for when doing these cap kits on both Sanyo 20-EZV monitors. ie; different caps, modifications, adjustments, etc....

I've never had a problem with the cap kits on the Sanyo.... just don't plug it into anything other than the plug in the cabinet. (100v isolation transformer)

Will do Kev. Thanks for the heads up. Also, did you have to pull the whole monitor to get the chassis out for the cap kit or could you remove the chassis with the tube still in the cabinet?

You CAN pull just the chassis out without the tube and frame.....
But..... the Sanyo's have all those extra little boards (audio, adjustment, inverter, a little transformer, etc) I personally think it's easier to just pull the whole thing so you can set it in front of you.
All that extra stuff makes it a little awkward pulling out without breaking something.
The frame rails tend to get in the way as well a bit.
Just my personal opinion though.

Cap kit is complete on the first monitor in the Nintendo Puchout cabinet. I took Kevin's suggestion and pulled the whole monitor. Let me tell you it was easy. The whole thing pulled right out the front of the cabinet like a charm. The cap kit install went pretty standard, but I did notice a bunch of the capacitors were either totally incorrect or under specs. This fixed my "vertical folding issue. Thanks Ken. :notworthy: It did seem like someone had monkeyed around on this chassis before. There was a wire that didn't look OEM so I desoldered it from the board. It went from the negative terminal of C161 to TR401. Any idea on why this might have been done? The top monitor in the cabinet doesn't have any issues at this point so I'm gonna hold off on the cap kit on that one. -Jarrett
