Title: Tinted montior plexiglass?
Post by: wallywalt on June 02, 2006, 04:13:08 am
Was thinking about trying to use tinted montior plexiglas instead of painting around the edges of a clear piece of acrylic.  Anyone done this before?? Know of a good place to order some smoked acrylic??

I've used it many times.
Works real well . . . just have to adjust the colors and brightness to compensate when it's on.
Just don't go with the "super dark" almost black, go more with what they call "bronze".
Try looking at your bigger hardware stores and local sign shops.
There are several other options to finding some.
But one suggestion is to get them to cut it to size unless you are familiar with working with it. (scribe and snap technique)
Cuz if they break it.... it's on them ya know.

I use it in my cab and it works very well. Was never able to find any at Home Depot, but Lowe's and a local midwest chain called Menard's stocks it.
