The DS Lite comes out June 11th. Our local Target had them on the shelves and started selling them early. I bought one.
Lemme say this. It's soooo badass, way better than the original. Go and see if your Target is selling them before they get pulled!

why would they get pulled?

I imported mine, and already I'm wishing they would be released here.
why???
BECAUSE I WANT A THUMB STYLUS!
(Really sucks trying to play some games.)
I'm waiting for them to release some of the add on kits that include the stylus.

because they aren't supposed to be released until June 11th

Yeah, they are Street Dated for June 11th. They ship them to the stores early so that way some people don't get theirs earlier than others. It would be kind of hard to get them every where at the exact same time otherwise.
Also that DS Lite Play kit has been out for about a week allready.

I heard somewhere that a guy went to buy one at a Wal-Mart, and they pulled them from the shelves immediately.

If you find some one selling DS Lites already you can call 1-800-875-1852 to report them to Nintendo. After you buy your's of course. ;) I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo is offering rewards. Pretty much if people get caught selling them early they are open to some pretty heavy litigation from Nintendo.

they are already out in japan

I kind of doubt target will pull them. They do this kind of thing all the time (you can always find games at target before they actually come out).
-
If people call in and report them they will pull them from the shelves. They can potentially be fined $10,000 or more for every unit sold before street date.
Even on ebay?
If they are selling the US version and are a retail ebay store I guess they could be reported. But it is ok for them to be Selling Imports of the Japan versions. I think it would be pretty hard to figure out which version they are selling though untill you've bought one from them.

I'm really enjoying playing New Super Mario Bros. on the DS Lite. I havent played a game this much since Resident Evil 4 on the cube. I'd say it's up there on the Mario 2d games. Totally in the top 5 DS games for sure.

Anyone else been able to find the DS Lite early? I've checked Target, Best Buy, Gamestop, and none of them have them out on the shelves yet. Waiting to play the new SMB...

This was on digg when the accidental sales were going on. And most people reported a few days after the big stores put them up on accident, the units would be on display, but they would not ring up, and thus you couldn't take one home even if a manager came over.

I checked all of the stores around me when this happened, and didn't find any... so I'll just have to wait and get the one I preordered...
