I've played Zero Gunner 2 on the Dreamcast off and on for a few months. Really cool shooter. I got to play an arcade version (at an arcade) on Monday.
The game seems totally different. The levels are different, the controls are different.
The arcade version will lock onto a target when your crosshairs cross over it and your gunship will autorate to stay on the target as long as you hold down the fire button.
On the Dreamcast, you press the B button to rotate your ship around an axis point in front of the gunship.
Is there a setting (that was in Japanese, perhaps) that makes the Dreamcast version play more like the arcade version?

Nope....

Maybe it was the original Zero Gunner (Sega Model 2 hardware @ 24khz display)? Like Goz, I have both DC and Naomi versions, they are the same.
-
Hmmmm, maybe it was. I'll have to go back to that arcade and check.

As the posters above stated, the game you played in the arcade has to
have been the original Zero Gunner.
In Zero Gunner 2, you had to press a button to set the "turn marker"
whereas the first game did the aiming for you.

Was the original Zero Gunner ever released on a console? Dreamcast or Saturn?
-
Well, luckily I made a pic of the marquee of the arcade game I played. It is: Zero Gunner - Special Forces

Ah, so mystery solved. There was no home port of the original Zero Gunner. I've always wanted to try that game to see how it compared. Did you like it?

first one looks more "3dish" and isnt as fast and zg2. overall good game, they should have ported to dreamcast.

It was really fun. Another kick-butt shooter.
