Title: Hantarex Polo Star woes (advice please?)...
Post by: Jimbo on May 31, 2006, 05:28:33 am
I sent this email to Hantarex support: -

"When switching between resolutions, will the Polo Star remember the settings the first time that resolution is adjusted (such as centering, parallelogram, v/h-size etc), or will I have to manually adjust the monitor controls each time the monitor changes resolutions (by resolutions I mean 640x480, 320x240 etc)?"

And I got this reply: -

"The Polostar does not have a microprocessor or memory chips so manual adjustment is required when you change inputs."

:(

So it appears I'll be manually adjusting the monitor controls whenever I start a new game, and again every time I exit back to my frontend. Does anyone have any experience with the Polo Star, and can tell me how bad this actually is? Is it just when switching from 31khz to 15khz etc, or is it everytime the actual horiz/vert screen resolution changes?

I read on a retroblast article that the WG D9200 monitor can remember the settings across resolutions... can anyone confirm this?  Is it gonna be worth me selling the Polo Star on ebay (or here), and trying to get a WG instead (anyone know any good UK retailers?). Or is there another multi-sync monitor that would be better? I'm not really looking to go any larger than 21".

Thanks

Jimbo

we have a few polostars but they all run on dedicated games so there is no freq change, now the reason the polostar will not remember settings is because it is a analogue monitor as opposed to digital but the polostar will auto range the freq from 15k-35k so in theory it should be possible to switch freq without adjustment-but this is def a case of try it and see
