Hi all,
Im new to the forums and look forward to getting involved here.
Basically I am having some real problems configuring MameWah for use with other emulators other than Mame.
To start with I am looking only to setup a snes emulator and a megadrive emulator....that will at least get me started!
I downloaded the snes emulator ZSNES and have worked out how to change between the emulators & generate the game list but I cannot get Mamewah to launch the snes roms properly.
It appears to start the rom but nothing happens. Are there any easy to follow guides and/or sample .ini files I can use to get me going?
What are the best snes/megadrive(genesis) emulators for use with Mamewah? Is the best snes emulator ZSNES?
Also, I am using this in my arcade cab, not being an expert with snes/megadrive emulators, is there anything I need to do to make the arcade buttons compatible with the other non arcade emulators?

Note that you'll only be able to use the file directly if you are using Mamewah 1.62beta.
Otherwise you will need to make a couple of small changes for it to be in the Mamewah 1.61 ini format.

More or less, change this line:
emulator_commandline c:\zsnesw\zsnesw.exe "[rompath]\[name].[romext]"{nodosbox}{safelaunch}
to:
emulator_executable c:\zsnesw\zsnesw.exe
commandline_format "[rompath]\[name].[romext]"{nodosbox}{safelaunch}
Do I want to be using the Windows or Dos version of ZSNES?
If you are using Windows then use the Windows version ;)

hmmm im still having some probs so I have decided to start totally afresh....

yeah! somethings clicked and I have got it working!
I wont shame myself and tell you what I was doing wrong, its embarasing!
So now I have got ZSNes to launch, is it possible to fully control it with arcade controls?

Shouldn't be a problem, you'll just have to remap the inputs. I'm not sure if this is the best way, but I always configure my emulator control mappings outside of mamewah. Just run the emulator's exe and configure it through it's built in menus. Then, the next time you fire it up through mamewah it will still be mapped the same way.

But how about escaping games etc?
Ok, things have been progressing really well and I can now get mamewah to launch mae roms and snes roms!
The next stage I want to try and get to is how to change the layout so that it is different for each emulator I flick through.
I read through the wikipedia guide but I cant quite get it to work. Can anyone please talk me through it from the start.
I think the main thing I am stuck on is the mamewah.ini file and what to do with this part:
### Misc Options ###
layout xxxxxxxxxx
