Title: Looking for speaker suggestions
Post by: emerica on May 24, 2006, 08:43:24 am
I have a bit of a dilemna that perhaps you guys can help me out with. I have read through several other topics relating to this topic but couldn't come up with a definitive answer.

I am looking for a pc speaker setup with my cab. Most likely I will go with a 2.1 setup with car speakers. Before I waste money trying out various sets of speakers, I thought I would ask here. At the moment I have a cheap logitech set running 2 bose 6.5" speakers (pulled from the junkyard). What I would like to add is a sub to the cabinet.  I was looking at various speaker sets but not sure which ones will give that punch to the music and arcade games. I did try a set of altec lansing speakers (had these laying around but are 8ohm). The bass just wasn't there. I believe the woofer ran at 11 watts rms or something close to that.

I'm wondering what a good set would be without going crazy. Also I'm not looking to spend more than $100 on these. I would prefer to find something cheaper if you guys have any suggestions.

Thanks

I have a set of Logitech Z2300 200W RMS 2.1 speakers w/8-inch Subwoofer.   120W on the Woofer and 80W for the speakers.  Sounds good about $120 in Canada less in the US.

  280 watts max
This is the system I have, 5.1 suround, with a matrix selectable setting. That allows it to run in 2.1 mode. It's beefy, heavy, and LOUD. The most common phrase I hear is "turn it down" usually yelled by my neighbors.
It WILL shake the floor, it WILL have the cops visiting you if you live in an apartment, and it WILL make you rather happy.
Originally I had this as the speakers for my PC, then I delegated it to the gameroom for all my consoles (imagine tetris shaking the floor on nintendo) when I got my 200x5 reciever.

thanks for the info guys.

I was looking at those z2300 speakers from logitech. I found them at radioshack for $99 w/ free shipping keeping them around my budget. . I'm assuming that these might be a bit of overkill but the price seems right on them.
