It should be noted that even if applications such as word processing, internet surfing etc can be run on a low-res monitor, the picture quality (i.e. interlace flicker) is not suitable for longer periods of time. Games and movies does not suffer from this and works fine.
I have a 19" CGA Happ Vision Pro Monitor in my cabinet. I'm wondering if I don't use powerstrip and run some Windows applications will I destroy the monitor or decrease its life span? What's the worst that could happen?

Well, if you have an ArcadeVGA you should be OK. If not, just running windows will just not work, you won't be able to see anything. You could ruin your monitor too. Look on the WIKI for some tips on powerstrip and what to do with it. If you need specific help, just PM me.

For some reason I had powerstrip running nicely a few months ago, but now it is some how corrupted and says that it has expired when I haven't used the trial version for a full year yet. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but no luck. I don't have an ArcadeVGA, but at this point I'm thinking I will try to get one of those cards because AdvanceMame is very hard to figure out.

My suggestion - use powerstrip to adjust your windows setup. Advancemame can handle video modes / frequencies by itself w/o that helping.
Or use the AVGA. ;D
