I want to add a few tables to my mame machine and still access via Mamewah.
I am assuming I would just use a command line dos version of pinmame and not any other frontend if I would like to launch from Mamewah, is that correct?
I am still new to setting up Mamewah, still cant get figure out how to get different game lists generated by game type ( i.e. fighter, vector, 4-way, etc...) So getting it to load a different emulator besides mame may take me a while to figure out.
Thanks

I second Howard's wrapper!

I say chit-can Visual Pinball because of it's cabinet unfriendliness and go with Future Pinball.

I have no problems on my cabinet ya' old fart! ;D  (Thanks for replying to my PM btw )

Hi,
you could check AtomicFE "pinball" plug'n play module. It allows to run future pinball, Vpinball+vpinmame directly from the Front End.
Loot at configuration files , and i think you should find easily a way to do the same thing with Mamewah.

I am curious how you handle some of the dialog boxes that pop up before the game launches, like version selection, instructions and so forth. Does you FE automatically handle these boxes and take you directly to the game?

Obviously you haven't a clue, as usual.

Hi John,
I didn't really try myself that module (angelscry made it for me) , but i know you can run directly the tables.
You select the table in Atomic , Atomic load Futurepinball or Vpinball/vpinmame and run the table for you and you are ready to play.
Have a try , Atomic used with plug'n play modules doesn't requires configuration.
Download Atomic , install it. (no configuration)
Download the Pinball module, install it.
Before running Atomic for the first use :
-run VPinball (included in the module) and install it (with default parameters)
-Double click on "pinball.reg" to register param.
Copy your tables (.VPT or .FPT file) in the Tables folder.
then now, you can run Atomic.exe , select your table , and play.

Seriously, with Howard's wrapper, it has always worked perfectly.

Ok - been searching for info on Howards Wrapper but I mostly come up with questions about it and not alot of information on what it is and where to get it.
Any ideas to where I can find out more info?
Thanks

All of Howard's stuff is available here:

The questions on it usually involve a specifc table that isn't behaving correctly. So far it has always been the fault of the table (the code that activates the pinmame display is sometimes done in a crazy way).
As mccoy said, the wrapper always works. I made the stinking thing almost 4 years ago and still the only time I have to update it is when I want to add new features.

Also of note:
Visual Install Pack will help you install Visual Pinball, Visual Pinmame and all it's various dependancy's (a non trivial task for even an experienced techie):
