Title: USB Light?
Post by: JoeJoe97 on May 17, 2006, 11:52:06 am
Has anyone here used a USB light to light a "translucent trackball"?  I am looking at something like

The reason I am asking is I have that device and I am getting to the point to where I can start worrying about that kind of thing.  I started roughly 4th of July last year and thanks to the help on these boards I am almost done.  To me it looks pretty good, for a couple of guys who don't know much about woodworking.  The thing is pretty big (~82" tall).  Pics to follow after I am finished.

I used a similar LED, but not USB powered (it just plugs into the spare molex connectors from your power supply).

In truth, I'm not too happy with it.  It's too intense and projects straight through the trackball and doesn't distribute the light evenly.  I'm personally waiting for whammoed to start selling his TB lighting module with dimmer:
