Title: Aquarium programs
Post by: Dexter on May 17, 2006, 10:34:44 am
Guys,

I'm looking for a good aquarium screensaver program for my brothers plasma screen. I saw one running a while back that was VERY realistic looking with large bubbles etc.

Can anyone name it or recommend a really good one?

Thanks

Dexter

I'd be careful running semi-static images on flat panels, ESPECIALLY plasmas. The shop I worked in at my last base had 54" plasmas that displayed the entire base infrastructure via HP Openview. Even with wiper* running, the icons were burned into the screen for good a week later.

*A wipe is a wide vertical colorbar, usually white, that goes back and forth on a screen to prevent burn-in.

I'm not really recommending it, because it's an oldie which can't barely run in any modern hardware... But I've always been a fan of El-Fish  8)

www.fish-byte.com is a good one, but an oldie, been around since atleast '00 with some enhancements over the years. (It was featured on ABC's 'Extreme Home Makeover'

also, I found a sweet shark screen saver called shark terror's of the deep

I've got the one from SereneScreen.

Seems like half the people in my office have that one. It's pretty realistic looking, and I think it offers the option to turn off the bottom of the aquarium so all you see is the fish to minimize your chances of burn in.
