Here are some pics of some clear volcano button lens that I cast.
Even after much trial and error they still need work. Despite the pressure casting there are still a few bubbles. Also they are not very consistent. Each lens is slightly different from the next in terms of clarity and opacity. The pic shows the lens illuminated with an RGB LED. The top row is with a clear leans and the bottom row is a frosted clear lens.

I tried casting the plastic cones and the molds tore because of the threads.
I could try again now that I have the high strength silicone, but I don't think it would be all that great. I am partial to the aluminum cones anyway. I think someone with access to a machine shop needs to reproduce the aluminum cones.
Still looks awesome!
Thanks, but they are not as cool as the originals.

Very cool, none the less! So, when do we put our orders in?

I just don't have the time because of my work to handle sales. Plus I wouldn't want to sell something that is not perfect.

I would definitely buy some if you had a complete ready to wire button.

Why not cast the cones without the thread and then thread them with a tap once they are cured?

How would you do that with a cone?

fill the cone with wax to create the mold, cast new mold as usual, viola, solid cast cone..now drill and tap after it's cast, and bobs yer uncle..

That would work, but it would be difficult to tap because of the small size and the fact that the threads do not go all the way through and have a lip over the top.
The thing is that other people have made Aluminite reproduction cones and they just don't look all that great.
What I'd like to see are some anodized aluminum reproductions.

I built an RGB volcano switch and hooked it up to my rainbow LED circuit.

I added a write up (http://www.rototron.info?Page=RGBVolcano.aspx) to my site discussing the RGB switch and the lens casting.

Will someone please make some aluminum cones! I will be first in line to buy. :hissy:

I'd be the second.
