Title: Sanwa OR Pacman
Post by: Fozzy The Bear on May 16, 2006, 08:20:44 am
I know this has been asked a lot.... and I know it's really down to personal preference at the end of the day but I value the opinion of you guys: I want to add a dedicated 4 way to my panel.

Which is the better of these two sticks... a genuine Sanwa Balltop in restricted 4 Way or The Packman Galaga Reunion stick???

Best Regards,
Julian (Fozzy The Bear)

I didn't saw The Packman Galaga Reunion stick but I can recommend Sanwa, excellent 4-way mode.

Our J-Stiks are made by Sanwa if you are looking for a source. We will shortly be stocking a third Sanwa stick, the JLF-TP8YT and also Sanwa buttons.

Hi Andy.... I would be very happy to shop with you, but to be honest your insistence on using DHL and charging the same amount to ship to me locally here in the UK as you would ship it across the Atlantic to the USA, tends to put me off buying a little bit. Thanks anyway.   That said I did persuade my boss that he should buy an Arcade VGA card from you the other day, for his own mame machine.

Also thanks Destructor! all opinions appreciated.

Anybody else have any thoughts on which stick??

Best Regards,
Julian (Fozzy The Bear)

I command J-stick (Sanwa JLW) also.
Some men they say yet better it is Seimitsu LS32. JLF - TPY 8 has also restrictor to 4 way mode, but joystick still engages diagonals :censored:

We will shortly be stocking a third Sanwa stick, the JLF-TP8YT and also Sanwa buttons.
JLF has superb restrictor octagonal. Very good that Ultimarc it will be he sold him.
In offer Ultimarc it never was joystick to 2D fighter game. Octagonal is good to these games. Te best he would be Seimitsu LS40 He has rotation circle. On Ultimarc only joysticks are square restrictor. ::)
what will be the cost of OBSN button?

I haven't used a Sanwa/JStick myself, but I HIGHLY recommend the Ms Pac Reunion joy.  I love it.  The only 4 way I prefer more than it is an original 4way Wico leaf.

There you go.  Doesn't sound like you have a choice.

Thanks for the opinions guys.... Much appreciated.  I'll take them into account when I place my order in about a month.

I have the J-sticks (in 4 way) from Ultimarc and they're real nice. I went with them primarily as a Pac stick, but they also switch to 8 way for the occasional round of 1943.

My understanding is that the Ms. Pac reunion stick is a bit tricky to mount, but real real good as well.

The ms pac reunion and replacement have a shorter stick.  It ends up looking stubby on the panel.  Its authentic, sure but I dont like the way it looks.

J-stick with a ball top in 4 way feels slick.

I love J-Stiks in 4 and 8-way modes.  They seem to be one of the less popular sticks for some reason...I think some people don't like the fairly light action.

As I say, I love them tho :)

I don't know Sanwa's site off hand, but the Himura Games link above sells them.  You can see some pics and info about them there.  Hope that helps.

Thanks Kowal,
That last one is a very good comparison site.

Thanks to all of you for your advice and suggestions. I may well go for the J-Stick.  Being in the UK I'm quite used to J-Sticks in use in most arcades. In fact I use them myself at work. What I needed to know was really, was the Pac stick a better option. But it seems that you answered the question for me.  I may well get the J-stick and fit a slightly stronger spring.
