Where can I get a plain control panel overlay? I am looking for either black or blue to use with my cocktail table. Also, what are they made of.
Thanks.

Where I come from we call this magical product "paint".

I don't want to use paint, I thought it was some kind of thick paper or vinyl.

Vinyl CPOs in a variety of colors.

www.arcadeshop.com has some that I think would work for you.
I've used this company in the past (call their 1-800 number) and they shipped quickly and reliably. They have some items as well not advertised on their page -- just ask.

looks good, how do you attach it, contact cement??
-
I didn't order any of it -- just stared at it long and hard and thought about it.
If I did, I'd use a spray on vinyl adhesive though. Contact cement can be thick, lumpy, and absolutely ZERO room for error.

thanks

I haven't tried it, but I've read positive things about the textured black vinyl sold by www.partsexpress.com

I have used a few rolls of this and its very nice. It's adhesive backed, so no need for contact cement. Happs also sells vinyl.

squirrellydw,
That's the correct Partsexpress vinyl.

thanks I think I will get it from PE

You can get all sorts of different color "tolex" from ebay. It's the stuff they put on guitar amps. I'm having my coctail panel covered with that right now. I got some material from one of the arcade grafix sites and it peeled up. So I think the tolex will be really durable.

link?? I don't see a lot of colors. I would really like a black and neon blue combination but doubt I will find that.

Has anyone used this stuff? I think it's the same stuff from the link above but that link is dead. How does this stuff compare to the stuff from arcadeshop?

I haven't used it yet...but I just got my roll in yesterday. Seems like it should work fine.

I've used quite a bit of Parts Express vinyl on a number of things (mame related and otherwise).
It works really well.

Do you know if it is thicker that the stuff from Aracdeshop?

If I'm not mistaken (a rarity) I think it is the same thickness. The Dayton roll is 10 mil thick as well as the stuff at arcade shop.
