I am using buttons, joysticks, and microswitches from Pelican Real Arcade Sticks. I guess they are .187 or whatever normal microswitches are, and I guess I want 20 guage stranded right? I am going with a 4 player cp, 6 buttons for players 1 and 2 on the inside and probably 4 buttons for players 3 and 4 on the outside. I don't know exactly how much wire that is, but i need enough wire and quick disconnects, the only place i found both is Radio Shack for really expensive and not in large quantities, where can i get these for a good price?
-
Home Depot has quick disconnects and they are cheaper. They also have wire.
-
Ok, i might make a drive out to my local one, I checked lowes and didn't like what i saw, cuz Lowes is closer for me, they didn't have the wire and had small packs of disconnects or were out of them or something.

Peale used to sell this stuff. Don't know if he still does, but it's worth asking. His prices were great last time I bought from him.

I got mine from Peale too. Highly recommended.

The disconnects from Blowes or Home Despot are usually of the .25" variety...most microswitches use a .187" if I am not mistaken.
I think Peale does still sell these (check B/S/T) and I think Randy sells them at GGG. As far as wire...check radio shack or Fryes

Look in the yellow pages for electrical supplies. You'd be amazed what's available in most metro areas. If you're out in the boonies, whatevermart has usually got some (expensive) stuff in the automotive department.

Bob Roberts has great QD's and his wire is cheap.

All Electronics (http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bin/category/196/Crimp_Terminals.html) has a ton of crimp terminals starting at around 5

Yeah, I still sell them. Haven't advertised because I'm not sure on my overall stock. I should start back up, I get requests all the time.
-
the red ones fit the best but the blue ones look cooler. Can I have some blue?

The color is dependant on what gauge wire you use. Red for smaller (22-18G) and blue for larger (18-16G).
-
^ correct. Does that mean I can buy some blue ones off you yet?
-
If you're looking for a larger retailer to buy them from, I bought a couple of boxes of 100 .187 Quick Disconnects, (non-shielded), from 'Fry's Electronics'. Not sure if their online equivalent, (outpost . com), carries them or not. I would say that unless you're in a hurry, (and I perpetually am ;) ), just buy them from one of the fine folks on the boards here, (just completed my first transaction :) ).
Just so you know...

Harbor Freight also sells em cheap if you happen to have one local.

I went to Active Electronics in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and bought a single cable that had 10 pairs of different coloured wiring inside. I think each wire was the equivelant of 18 or 20 gauge wire. It was cheap and made tracing wires easy. I bought a spool of blacl wire from grounding.

Radio Shack sells them as well.

It used to be that you could count on persons within the BYOAC community for stuff like this.
it appears that times have changed :lame:

It appears this comment is directed towards me personally.
THIS is exactly why I haven't advertised that I have them. My free time is nearly non-existant. My day consists of waking up, pounding breakfast, getting the kids ready for school. Rush to work, deal with daisys all day, stay extra long to make sure things are completed. Fly home to spend a half-hour with the family, pound dinner, get the kids into bed. Sit down on the couch, and find myself waking up on it at six AM.
I even have to go in to work today, on a Saturday. Sucks, but that's the biz.
Before when I was a stay-at-home-dad, I had plenty of time to get things like this organized, packaged and in the mail. It's nice to even be able to look at the computer, let alone do something with my personal life.
So yes, Timoe...I haven't gone to the garage to check on your blue disconnects yet. Sorry I'm so ":lame:"
