I've been hoping to put two arcade cabs in my basement, but it's just not going to happen. So I need to make sure the one that will make it down there has the controls I want.
Anyhoo, I've been looking at all the project examples for inspiration, and I came across REBIRTH's rotating panel. This looks ideal. I am using an old Frogger cab, so I'm pretty stuck with the dimensions I have. His website with the explanation doesn't seem complete. If anyone has info on this technique or knows of a similar project, I would be very appreciative. Thanks!

Frosty's -- Very sweet as well

I am sure that they have a little more in depth look at the thing on their sites.

Thanks Horseboy,
The thing I liked about REBIRTH's is that it didn't include that part at the top of the panel. I don't have the room in my Frogger cabinet to make that work, so unfortunately Frosty's and 1ups won't work for me. If I was doing one from scratch, then I'd be stylin'! ;D

Ahh. I see. I can't help then. I am going with swappable cps. Having a couple of extra CPs in the basement can't be that bad. You could even make a couple of shelves directly above the cab. Just tossing out some ideas here.

Horseboy, swappable is the other option I'm considering. I'm just trying to avoid getting a call from my wife while I'm at work...
"How do I get the normal panel back on so I can play BurgerTime? You left the one with the stupid yellow knobs (LS30's) on it!!"

I think you will have much better luck going swapable. Trying to get a rotating control panel to work in a factory cab without major re-construction would be next to impossible. Just use one plug for the swapable panels that way it would be easy for your wife to make the change.

Swappable is nice for many reasons... Find a special deal on a weird controller? Want both a tempest and an arkanoid spinner. Want to have a dedicated control panel JUST for asteroids?
But you have to deal with a connection issue. I have rewired my cab more times that I can imagine. There are some simple (multiple db25 serial cables... male side on one side... female on the other... and you can buy db25 f-f cables later when you only want more control panels). But the wires in the cable not easy to use. I ended up with a hotswap with tacswitches I made. So I just drop a control panel in and its connected... nice but not super easy.
Then you have software issues. I haven't found a good frontend that can deal with filtering based on control panel well. I wrote my own a while ago, but not having time to update it to make it stable for others...
But I think you have a lot more / different problems with rotaries.. Get it look nice at the end... make sure the controls fit. Same software problems, but easier to pick a game, then pick the control panel.
Anyway, good luck and post pictures if you go with a rotary
