I don't think that there is any way that this thing could help you map the game controls to your arcade controls. This simply lets you view the game on the monitor. It's cool, but you would still have to figure a way to switch your controls between consoles and your pc.

personally I use the XArcade PCB and Adapters to use my cabs arcade controls ...so for me this would work.

But as you figured out...this will only play the video and have no effect over your controls....

That PVR on computer option could be very useful for getting some mame artwork off of some console arcade recreations.  I know this sounds a little over the top, but this could be used to record the spaceship on the PS2 midway treasures game that has Kozmik Kroozr's spaceship more or less accurately implemented in 2D.  If we could record it's behavior, maybe Aaron could write artwork support for an animated *.gif or something similar...Just brainstormin' here, but it could work. :blah:
I know there are at least a few others that would be useful as well.

this might be perfect for me.  I used to use my computer / screen as a TV using sagetv + creativelabs digital vcr.  But I recently moved to a DirectTV+DVR but still wanted to use my computers monitor as a TV (since its bigger then the rest of my TV's).

Well, it sucks when trying to use a SageTV since there is a 3 - 5 second delay between live and what your watching.  Not a big deal normally, until you want to press a menu button on the remote/dvr and it doesn't show up on your screen for 5 seconds... and when trying to stop fastforwarding through a commercial, youhave to rewind a few seconds.

I was going to go with another solution (huppaugge 150mce + gotv on no harddrive record mode (forgot the name).  But that was still a 1/2 - second delay.    This looks faster then that.  And almost the same price.

kinda cool

Product pages like that one kind of piss me off. There is no picture where it shows you the connectors, and the "technical" section is just the same crap they wrote in the main page stuck in a table... The actual box itself looks like a decent product, but I want to know what kind of inputs it has. I am guessing that it should use the component out for modern consoles like the PS2 which can do 1080i?
