When will the first three episodes be released in a boxed set?  Anyone know.

(Not an invitation to debate how sucky or not the first two were.) ;)

I've had the original unaltered movies on DVD for some time now...  ripped from the LaserDiscs.

Same here. In fact I have 4 sets of them at various quality releases. :) I still even have the VHS versions collecting dust somewhere. I'm hoping the XO release of the laserdisc rips come out near this so we can compare.

I'm going to buy them, then edit Jabba the Hutt back into Ep4 and put that new gay ewok song at the end of Jedi. Then I'll mail it to George Lucas and see how he likes my version, and insist that it is the only version that people should ever see again.

I'd like the original versions with 5.1 sound though. Probably not going to happen.

I'd like to see George Lucas in a small room with a bunch of cops and several thick phone books.

Already said its Dolby 2.0 like the original. Notwithstanding, the Laserdisc rips do have 5.1 on them.

If you really want to just swap the org and special edition versions audio.  It should only take forever to get it to sync right.   Actually there should be a group that does it by scene then releases the whole audio file only so you can use it.

I'm pretty sure that's already been done by one of the guys from: http://www.originaltrilogy.com/forum/index.cfm   Not with this new release/transfer, but with combinations of sound from DVD and picture from LD.  And maybe even a version where most of the picture is from DVD except for those particular scenes not available on DVD.
