I've been staring at this panel for the past few days and I'm not quite sure how to finish it. These are old pics. I've already drilled and routed all the holes.
I've been thinking of plexi, lexan....maybe even just paint it and use a thick coat of polyurethane. I also thought about using black contact paper.
the plexi/lexan idea is kind of difficult due to the shape of it.
Any suggestions?

Lexan painted black underneath with Pactra R/C car paint would look awesome. Since the shape of the panel gives off kind of a "bat" vibe, the shiny black is a natural.
Gotta qualify that by saying I'm more of a fan of simple overlays, not retro looking or with art from 20 different games. Have you hooked your nuts on that walking by yet? Ooowie!

Luckily I'm only 5' 6"....so I've stabbed myself in the belly button several times.
but hey...I'll get used to it. ;D

with lexan?
what do I do about the edges? I can't really uset-molding because of the points.
-
Am I crazy to think that t-molding notched properly would wrap around that point?
-
My guess is it would not retain the sharp point and would round out a tad, but it would stay put if properly notched. Then again, the slight roundedness might a good thing for peoples' nuts and bellies. ;D
You could also cut the t-molding right where the points are (which would leave a seam, but might look better anyway). If it were me, I would first try what leapinlew suggested and if it doesn't work, then cut it there.

Oh no!!!! :hissy: A Pac man with a Frankenpannel!!! :laugh2:

a flush cut router bit will cut through the lexan like butter, you may need to clean up the 2 inside corners with a file.Ditto on the t molding.I think if notched correctly it will wrap around the corners fine.
-
another option instead of t-molding is shown on the link below which worked nicely for me but it would take a lot of patience notching those 2 corners.

i hope no one ever brings rug rats to your house.

HA!! that's why I designed it like that!! ;D
all kidding aside...this is for my new place...i'm living alone...so it's a no kid zone!
but believe me...when I'm done with it...no kid will be brave enough to step up to it anyway.
