Title: Older DirecTV acces cards: still useful?
Post by: Frosty on May 06, 2006, 04:09:44 pm
I recently found an old RCA DSS receiver and much to my surprise, the access card was still in the thing.  I know the receivers themselves are not worth much, but how about this access card?  I've never had satellite programming before, but I remember a while back that these things were pretty valuable (if..um, 'altered').  Is that still the case?

It's a blue card---reads "Access Card 4".

Does it have football players on it? I think that's the current one. Somewhere I have a blank one that's never even been programmed... somewhere.

I'm pretty sure the P4 card is the one that really killed the scene.  I was into running pitou (a unix based system that would allow you to run multiple systems off 1 H card) until the killed the H stream, then the pushed out the P4.  You could still program the HU cards, but DTV (Dave) was always throwing stuff down to mess with scripts.  Eventually hashes were so bad I quit messing with it.  I think the killed the HU stream.  anyway....

I don't think the ones with football players work anymore.  I think they might be up to P5s by now, but..I could be all messed up.

it's been SOO long

I think the thing I miss most about the good ol' days of H & HU cards is being able to get the East Coast feeds.

A friend of mine had some Dish boondoggle going on a while back but I'm not sure if he's still active...
