like the subject says I just got a free pentium 3 800mhz computer with 128 megs of ram. I want to get a arcade vga card and put it into my candy cab. Im going to install xp on it but I need to know which version of mame to run. I havent dealt with the slower computers and mame so Im not sure what my best bet would be. I want to be able to run all of the neo-geo games. Will this be possible? Also is there anyway that MKII will run on this system?

with only 128 of ram I'd recommend installed Win 98 instead of xp. I can't really say which version of mame is best for you, but I had an 800mhz machine with XP installed (but 3x as much ram as you) and I had problems running games like bubble bobble 2 or puzzle bobble 2,3,4. It could run them, it just stuttered a quite a bit at times. I was able to play all versions of metal slug and king of fighters without problems though.

your right about windows 98. I will use that instead of xp. Anyone have any advice on wich version of mame?

Wow...that computer is pretty much worthless. You can't run anything on that. I'm suprised you can get it to boot.
So I'll do you a favor and take it off your hands. No need to thank me.

i run xp pro -
just be sure to turn off all the visual eye candy.
boot up time is a little slow, but once on, mame runs fine.
i play just the classic small footrprint golden era games.
anything modern sturtters.
