Title: getting rid of XP logon screen
Post by: slug54 on March 01, 2003, 06:05:40 pm
I'm converting my cab from 98se to xp pro today and
I can't seem to remember where to get rid of the
logon to windows screen in xp pro. I found where to turn off the welcome screen but not the logon to windows box.

I seem to remember that there was a place to tell xp that a certain user is logging on all the time. but that may have been a setting  i've seen in the novell netware client at work.

          Thanks

find a logon loader to change the login screen to some freeky design and to setup autologon in XP type "control userpasswords2" in the run dialog box. uncheck "users must enter password to login to the 'puter". then press ok and enter the password/login one last time.

A very simple solution for you would be to re-enable the welcome screen and make sure that you have only 1 user setup that has no password. If you do that XP Pro/Home will login automatically without displaying any welcome/logon screen.

Thanks guys

I installed Tweakui to kill some of windows annoyances
and it had an option for auto logon that worked.
I will remember the 1 user/welcome screen setup though.

Thanks for your help
