Post by: infernooo on May 03, 2006, 10:46:35 pm
Hi everyone,

I was trying to find out what type of joysticks are used in the following arcade machines (pictures attached):

Any ideas??

Thanks!

not sure, but I'd say some kind of "euro style"  maybe.

like the omnistick from GGG

My money would be it's an MCA joystick I think they are made in China and most commonly used in Australian arcades, I have 4 in my cabinet, probably the ugliest joystick I've ever used but tough as nails and by adjusting a little slide thingy on the back (two screws) you can change them from 4-ways to 8-ways either square or round.

You can buy them here: http://www.highway.net.au/parts/buttons_and_joysticks/3151.html

They're made by "MCA"  an Australian manufacturer.  I'm pretty sure you can get them from "Ozstick" if you really like em. Trust me, they're not the greatest sticks by any means IMO. I'm sure you'll get another post where someone says they're excellent. :) Depends on what you like in a joystick.

I have never even touched one of these but that has to be one of the worst looking sticks I have ever seen.

Hi All!

Wow, you are all extremely quick!! Thanks for the replies.

I'm sure they aren't good joysticks - but I was brought up using them so.... :)

Thanks!

MCA makes some pretty strange looking pushbuttons as well.

Just wanted to add... I played with this joystick loads as a kid... my opinion is they are brilliant for shoot'em ups.  I haven't found anything yet with as good a feel as these. Short throw, quick actuation, nice resistance/centering.  Plus its small so fits my small hands nicely.  ;)
