Title: Clrmame auditing
Post by: hypernova on May 02, 2006, 08:00:25 pm
I downloaded my roms off emule.  Deciding to try and contribute to [romsite name redacted] without redownloading all 15 GB or whatever, I want to audit my roms and join in so I don't have to upload as much to stay on the good side of the admins there.  So is it normal to take hours to audit the roms based on mame .105 using a 3.2 ghz processor system?

Just a quick check of the process:

15587 matched | 16298 created | 78 skipped

It was around 25% done, in the F section (fatal fury) when i took those numbers.

Never having used clrmame before, is this normal?  I tried reading [romsite name redacted]'s pdf and clrmame's help files, but it's all just so darned confusing. :dizzy:  Please tell me this is normal.

Did you rebuild the roms, or did you scan them? It should take a good while, I know my roms did and I am on a Sempron 3200.

Scanning doesn't take that long, BUT...

You won't easily be able to share what you have with the [romsite name redacted] folk, unless you use RomTorrent. (I think that's what it's called).

It'll unzip and make the ZIP file exactly to what everyone else is using.

This will take a *very* long time to do.

Not saying you shouldn't do this, but if you want to share, share the CHDs.  They're exactly the same from person to person, no modification necessary.

The name of the app is TorrentZip, and it really is reccomended that you use that program if you are going to be on [romsite name redacted], as it will save you lots of bandwith by already starting with part of the torrent if you don't have it all.
