Title: JAKOBUD's site is DEAD!!!
Post by: Fozzy The Bear on April 30, 2006, 06:48:44 pm
Has anybody else tried the Jakobud.com site lately???

It seems to be down on a more or less permanent basis. I know that Jake hasn't posted on here for a while.... anybody got any clues on this one??

Best Regards,
Julian (Fozzy The Bear)

p.s. If it is dead, shouldn't we be thinking of asking Jake to let us have his archive of cabinet dimensions so the we can make it all accesible again??

That is a *stupid* title and it scared the crap out of me. It should have been presented as a question. "Think".. before you type Fozzy. :-\

I just had a vision once of a dead jacalope, but never actually thought that Jacobud was dead.

Sorry chaps.....  Didn't mean to panic you.... It was late at night when I typed that. Seems that some kind Moderator has amended it for me....  :applaud:

It'd be a real shame if we no longer have access to all of that information. I hope Saint manages to work something out with him.

The last word I heard was that he was planning to put the site back up -- if that's not the case then I'd like to put up a mirror.

Would cabinet plans be appropriate for the wiki?

I think it would work better as a seperate site/mirror personally.

Thanks for the clarification Saint..... I also have to agree with pointdablame that it would work better as a separate mirror if it comes to it.......

DAMN! I just realised that I agreed with pointdablame :hissy: Something must be wrong there! LOL  :laugh2:

I always considered putting the stuff up at the arcade art library... but I never got around to asking for permission...

Would be great if you can still get hold of Jake and he's prepared to let you do that. The more people that hold it as an archive the less chance there is that we'll not be able to get to the information.

If you have them, i`d like the moon patrol and mario bros plans please.  Only found out Jakobud`s site was down today.

Edit: retro_gamer1@hotmail.co.uk    - if you have them of course  :)

Hi there.

You're in luck (well partially  :-\), here are the Moon Patrol Plans.  BTW, that is exactly the cab I'm planning to built (when I finally build-up enough self-confidence  ;D)

Enjoy.

Cheers,

Cheers guys most helpfull, missioncontrol was gonna email em, but thats great  :) as a side note, is there any program I can input these into so I can print them as templates?, I dont trust myself measuring them out correctly.

*Congui - excellent choice, I love the design of it, are you going to make an exact replica or are you changing the artwork/control panel etc?

Razor thanks for the compliment.

I love the shape of the cab, however I'm planning on playing around a bit with  the dimentions, trying to keep the essence of the cab as much as I can.   As for the theme I'm thinking about going with an anime one.

I'm still at a planning stage; just recently received the parts I ordered from Ultimarc: ipac2, buttons and magstick pluses with ball tops (really like them, btw).  What has me scared is the wood working (I'm a total noobie when it comes to woodwork).

Cheers,

Lol im pretty much in the same boat, I havent got a clue about woodwork either, luckily my old man is good with woodwork, so he`s going to help me out hopefully (cheating i know)  I`ve had the innards sitting around for a while, joysticks and buttons etc, and ive recently built the pc im going to use, unfortunatly I might need to change my minipac to an Ipac, as im not sure if it`ll be big enough for this.  Good choice with an anime theme, im not sure what im gonna do with mine yet better have a think!

If anyone starts putting this back together I have drawings I just did for Atari system 1 cab (side only).  I would be happy to provide them once a site is prepared.
