Title: Xbox error
Post by: fastredpacman on April 29, 2006, 10:59:26 am
Can anyone help me my xbox came up with error code 16. Which is some kind of dashboard error with the clock. My questions are

1. Can this be fixed without a modchip?

2. If I have to buy a modchip to fix this what would be the cheapest solderless solution?

3. Could I fix this with the chip and then take the chip out and use it to fix another xbox?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Hoagie. Im still unsure as to what to do because Ive got that error on two xboxes not just one that is why I was wondering if there was a way of fixing it without a modchip.

You can infact fix two xboxs with one chip but only one will be "modded" afterwards to allow playing of backups and such.  I'd recomend a solderless chip for your case since you'll be removing the chip from the first xbox.

How would you that? Can you explain? What type of chip would you recomend for this?

Do any of your xbox's work or are they all haveing this problem.  If you have at least one working xbox I'd recomend getting a DuoX2 chip and a solderless adapter for it.  That way you can install it into your working Xbox and flash it, and then switch it over to your broken xbox so that you can fix them.  If none of you xbox's work right now then you would need to get a chip that can be flashed externally.  In which case I'd probably recomend an Xecuter 3 Chip.

You can find both chips at OTBMods.com and if you email Adam I'm sure he can help walk you through fixing your Xbox's.

If I go through it the way you describe would I need to keep the chip on the xbox? Or could I just install fix and then remove the chip?

You only need to install the chip long enough to fix the broken Xbox.  Once the Xbox is fixed you can remove the chip.

You can get a DuoX2  (http://www.otbmods.com/duox2-cromwell-edition-chip-p-28.html) Chip from www.OTBmods.com for $14.99 and then get a S.P. Solderless Adapter  (http://www.otbmods.com/xodus-solderless-adapter-1016-p-154.html) for an aditional $23.99 and you should be good to go.   Adam at OTBMods is probably one of the most reliable mod-chip resellers out there.  You can check out his customer reviews on RetailRatings.com (http://www.resellerratings.com/seller11258.html) and over in the Xbox-Scene forums (http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=457314).  If there is something you want that he doesn't have just ask and he can probably get it for you.  I haven't really seen any other mod chip sites that have had 100% positive customer reviews like he has which is why I always buy my chips from him.

Also don't forget to ask him to setup the S.P. Adapter to work with the DuoX2 chip.

I also want to vouch for Adam at OTB mods.  I have done business with him many times and he's a good guy to deal with.
