You can hook up a hard drive to a full size PS2 via the add on Network adapter. The slimline PS2's can also get a hard drive via a new USB drive or by replacing the botom of the PS2 with a mod to accomodate an internal drive.

I picked up a used full-size PS2 with Network Adapter at Gamestop yesterday for $99.  It came with one controller and video cables.

If I had known about the free Gran Turismo 4 at Best Buy with a new one, I may have gone that route as I also bought a copy of Gran Turismo 4 at Gamestop.  :banghead:

Some games, like Final Fantasy, use it.  But the real reason to have one is so you can mod the PS2 and rip games to the hard drive so you don't have to put discs in, or so you can avoid that whole inconvenient "buying" thing altogether when it comes to getting games.

how much does it cost to mod?  are there chips better then others?  who here does mods?

Does PS2 have a mame and other emulator set-up?
