Title: Street Fighter game?
Post by: tapnout on April 26, 2006, 02:20:46 pm
Does anyone know how or if it's possible to get SF2 or the other versions to have giltches that i have seen in the arcade years ago. The glitchs were somethings like ryu being able to throw more then one fireball at a time or do the hurricane kick all across the screen. Doing tricks while characters are in the air. I saw one where guile could throw like 10 sonic booms. I just thought those were fun and i was wondering if this is just a cheat not one came up with. Thanks.

If I remember correctly these "glitches" were actually hacked rom sets.

I once owned a SF2 "Rainbow Edition" PCB  that allowed screen wide hurrican kicks n such.

there was a way to lock up the machine with guiles kick or something... then you could unlock it... I don't remember how but I remember it could be done on the machine

you probably will be able to do it with mame...  but most of those bugs are only in one or two versions of the roms... so you might need an old version.

My old boss used to get mad at pengo because the bugs wheren't in it... until he found the version that he used to play.

I always get mad when I play a galaga game and it doesn't have the non-firing enemies when they first enter on levels 10 and 18.  I dont know if its a bug or if they intended it that way, but I've never seen any reproduction of galaga, that wasn't a mame version, do that.

MJ147 was right they are just hacked roms. I did a search on google and found some websites that stated which rom sets they are. These are the rom set names:

Rainbow edition = SF2RB
Rainbow edition = SF2RB2
Redwave edition = SF2RED
Accelerator edition = SF2ACCP2

Tried them out works just like the old days!

Hey, that's me.  It was acutally a different version than the ones listed above called "Testron Quicken".  Afraid it's already sold, though.

Friends and I used to go to a pizza place just to play their bootleg SFII.

In it all moves could be performed in the air, there were no charge times, and Ryu threw two fireballs that moved together in a wave (criss-crossing each other). It's impossible to block both high and low. It had a chrome looking logo. Still haven't seen a rom for that one.

Capcom basicly implimented the best ideas from those hacked editions into the Streetfighter Alpha series.

I was pretty sure that the rainbow editions etc were included in the Mame ROMSET - could be wrong though...

other cool street fighter 2 fact: M. Bison is the main boss in the USA version and the boxer is Balrog. In the Japan version the main boss is Balrog and the boxer is M. Bison. M. Bison acctually stands for Mike Bison, which is a close resemblense and making fun of Mike Tyson. So they chanced it when it came to the US in fear of a law suit.
