Title: help, with wells gardner 4600 (19k4626) monitor
Post by: Denverlatino on April 25, 2006, 04:07:26 pm
I was just wondering, if someone knows a way that i can display my computer in my arcade monitor so i can play mame in it...
I have a old packman cabinet with a wells gadner 19k4626 vertical monitor in it, and i try the pc to jamma action to display my games on my monitor but it dosnt work, i also try powerstrip with no luck and finally try advance mame with no luck either.... it looks that my videocard its not suported by advance mame, i got an hp pavillion 7915 computer with on board video....

Any help?

Im waiting in 2 deals to get a jpac plus a vga card but untill i would like to go the hard way...

thanks for any attentions....

Actually, with a monitor that old, you may just need an amp to display anything.

You say you have a J-PAC on order...it has one onboard.  Otherwise Ultimarc sells one seperately.

i got the jpac yesterday, and unfortunately, it didn't work, all the monitor displays is just a bunch of line across, so i guess i will have to buy an arcadevga card,,,,, its there an alternative for that? or do we have to use ultimarc products in order to have a picture on real arcade monitors?....
thanks for the help....

What video card are you using now?

Can you show a picture of the lines?

I have a WG K4600 monitor as well and had similar problems.  I first thought it was a capkit (which you should always do before anything else), but it didn't fix my problem.  Turns out I had to adjust the horizontal/vertical position knobs to get the picture right.  Not sure if you're running Windows or DOS mame, but you can just load up ArcadeOS in DOS with the incabinet = 1 option and it will then output 15khz (as long as the video card is supported..cross your fingers!).  Then play with the knobs until you get the picture straight.  I'd say adjust vertical sync until the pic stops rolling and then play with all the centering knobs.  You'll probably still want the arcadevga card, but this will help you determine if you have a monitor problem or not.  The only other realistic way of getting Mame on your arcade monitor is to use advancemame...but I had so many problems that I gave up on it.  Good luck!

ati rage pro agp 4x , thats the video card im using, plus the lines look like this... (http://homearcade.org/BBBB/slant1.jpg) after a few tweaks it look like this (http://homearcade.org/BBBB/slant2.jpg) so i found this part on my monitor (http://homearcade.org/BBBB/horadj.jpg) just like in the website.... after i play with it for a while, i gave up  (after 5 hrs 1 am) so i decide to put the original game in it, and guess what, no image either, and before i was in good shape , so now im trying to fix the original game image and the best i get its like the image floating aruond in 4 parts.... so im goin to get the image the way it was before, and then ill try again with the pc......

man , the original game look good in the monitor, so i dont think it was a monitor problem, then after i play with the (http://homearcade.org/BBBB/horadj.jpg) now i have the same problem with the original game now so im trying to get the original game to work and maybe ill buy an arcadevga card.... hope so.... i also mess with a blue knob that says horizontal center.... its there like a technical way to aling all this knobs?

I don't think you did any permenant damage, I *think* that's just your H Width coil (although not one I've seen before).

If you were close I'd take a look, but...

All I can suggest is try adjusting the horizontal sync first, get it mostly still, THEN work on vertical sync.

Little metal can "L351" is the coarse horizontal hold control. On that same board is also the regular (fine) horizontal hold control at the edge of the board. These controls interact with each other somewhat.

Remember that most computers output POSITIVE sync signals and should be connected to the POSITIVE sync inputs on the monitor. The vast majority of video arcade gameboards generate NEGATIVE sync signals and are connected to the NEGATIVE sync input terminals on the monitor connector.

OK let me tell you  a Little mistake i did, when i wire the jamma harness to the jpac , i didn't strip the sync cable very well, so it wasn't making any contact at all, so basically i didn't connect the cable , that's why i didn't have the chance to fix it, once i discover that , i re-wire the harness, and boa la, i had a stable picture on the original gameboard, the i try the computer back again and only the bootscreen comes out fine, now i will try the positeve sync trick today and let you guys know.... thanks for the help.
