Title: De-Gaussing Coil's.
Post by: drumlogix on April 21, 2006, 03:04:04 pm
Hi,
I accidently put a sub woofer way to close to my Sharp Image arcade monitor. It now has some weird coloration and such in the bottom right corner. After hitting the degauss switch a few times it cleared up a good amount but it is still noticable. I have read some things on homemade degaussing coils and the electric drill/magnet method. But my question is on the HAPP degaussing coils. How are they used? Do you take the screen/tube out of the chassis and run the circle coil from the tube past the flyback? Or do you do it with the monitor still on and put the coil up against the screen? Any help would be appreciated thanks greatly!

You can make a degaussing coil...

Instructions on how to use it are there as well.

I have a happ coil i have rented out several times, if you need this send me a pm, you start right in front of the monitor then in a circle motion you move outward until you about 6 ft, away it works awesome on cleaning up monitors
thanks

you can buy one fairly cheap from arcade amusements. you wave it with your hand i think.

http://www.arcadeshop.com/parts.htm

its the last item in the third catagory down wich is the monitor part list i think. its listed for about 25 dollars. plugs into the wall.
