Title: Monitor Jitters
Post by: clite_rad on April 19, 2006, 07:51:47 pm
I just acquired a new cocktail game with a 14" monitor. The game plays great but the monitor jitters in the horizontal when the game first starts and it somewhat clears up when the game is on for a long time. I know that it will probably need a cap kit. What I'm wondering is if there are other things I can check to make sure it is not something else before I do a cap kit to it. Is there some simple things that I can check that may be causing the jitter.

Bad solder joints and a capkit.

My WG K7000 does the same, its ok after 5 minutes of being on though, if you give the cab a shake then it snaps out of it, doesnt flicker all the time when its cold though, only now and then. Would you say the same thing is needed Ken? I have no idea what is involved in a Cap Kit by the way, and my soldering skills are only basic!

lettuce: definitely sounds like bad solder joints.  I'd go there first.

Practice soldering on something you don't care about first.

The k7000 is well known for solder problems. I suggest also purchasing a good magnifying glass and sitting down with the chassis under a good fluorescent light source.
