Title: WG 9500 Monitor & Viewing Distance
Post by: iamnaeth on April 18, 2006, 10:07:54 pm
Hey all, quick question.  I'm looking at the WG 9500 monitor, its a 19" digital monitor.  Looking at the dimensions here:

http://www.wellsgardner.com/downloads/pdf_4122006113956am.pdf

It seems to me if I calculate the diagonal from dimensions:  Diagonal = sqrt ( P^2 + B^2) = 22"

Am I making an error here?

Also,  whats the standard viewing distance for 19", 25", and 27" monitors?  Thanks!

I did the same math you did and came up with the same result (roughly of course).  I'm guessing that there is an inch border around the viewable image that is just black.  You can see it in the image of the monitor in the pdf.  I'll let you know what the real deal looks like when mine comes (should be here friday).

Excellent.  Thank you.  I was suprised to find that the 19" monitor, according to the PDF, is just as deep as their 27".  I think the term is the yoke but it sticks out a good bit further in the back.

Here's a link to my project announcement thread.  It's got a picture of the monitor in it.  And yes, it does have a good inch or so black border around the whole front.

I am going to fire up the monitor tonight and try to tweak it a bit.  Hopefully it looks nice.
