I just received a used wico trackball and performed the mouse hack while at work (shhhhh) but whe I brought it home and hooked it up the mouse does not respond well with it, I increased the mouse speed still no good response, when you spin the rollers fast the mouse does not move until they start to slow down quite abit. Is there something I could have done wrong or is there something I can easily fix without trashing the used ball and buying new...

what kind of mouse was it?
-
It was a standard PS/2 mouse about 4-years old.

Not a Logitech one? They are often not easily hackable using the normal method...

No, not a logitech but a mitsumi, could it be possible that one of the optical boards in the trackbal could be going bad? because I switched the 2 boards from left and to up & down and the problem seemed to follow w/ the board. So can the boards be purchased, should I chuck the unit or can you make new boards????
Thanks Again,
Tater

I think that is a wiring problem, like you have your lines crossed someway.

Most of the stuff I've read recommends turning down the mouse speed to the absolute minimum. It sounds like you did the opposite. That might be your problem.
Does it respond perfectly as long as you spin it slowly?
