Title: Idiot with a question, Disassembling a top-fire joystick to install it.
Post by: Gatt on April 17, 2006, 05:58:54 pm
Ok,  I've been at this for an hour and I'm not getting anywhere.  Can't figure out how to take a Happs top-fire apart to install it.  Pulled the E-ring but the button assembly is preventing me from pulling the shaft out,  and I can't figure out how to dismantle the assembly.  Already pulled the micro-switches to get at the assembly,  but not having any success.

Could someone knowledgable help me?

If it's the "Super" top-fire, you have to pull really hard on the disk piece at the bottom that contacts the fire microswitch.
Add a small amount of twist while you are doing it to get the best results.

It is connected to a plastic shaft inside, so don't get TOO violent with it though.

After you've had it apart a few times, it's alot easier.

Look at the exploded view HERE (http://www.happcontrols.com/joysticks/50800010x.htm) to see how it all goes together.

That did it!  Thanks!

Was afraid of trying that before,  didn't want to snap something important.  Much appriciated!
