I'm planning the control panel of my second cabinet. It's going to be vertical, primarily for shooters like Raiden and vertical Golden Age stuff. I'm thinking about just using a straight-across 3 button layout, just want to make sure there are no great games I'm missing by doing this. I couldn't think of any.
Thanks!

I can't think of any.
Have you looked in Mame at your game collection or have you used sortinfo?

Daioh I think uses 6 buttons, maybe 1 or 2 others... but you'd probably be fine with 4 buttons for the most part.

Not yet. Most were JAMMA, so I figured 3 buttons would be the standard (separate "kick" harness does the second 3 for fighters), but just thought there might be one there I wasn't considering that'd immediately come to someones mind.

Vanguard uses 4 buttons for fire.

Vanguard uses 4 buttons for fire.
Awsome game. Darn near hypnotic.

I considered that one, and decided not to worry about it since its such an odd layout with the diamond shaped button layout. Playing it on my horizontal cab, I mapped the fire to the right joystick.
Initally, I thought it was a stroke of genius then realized Vanguard doesn't have auto-fire and had to hit the stick over and over to fire. :dizzy:

It is possible to "change the region" of Daioh to Japan, which uses only 2 buttons...
