Title: Stripping Sideart?
Post by: Gunstar Hero on April 09, 2006, 04:10:10 pm
I have an old Pole Position cab with trashed sideart... whats the best way to go about stripping it off for a repaint? Sanding? Paint Remover? Could it just peel off? Any suggestions welcome.

I had this same issue.  My cab was laminated so you might not want to try this if yours is painted and you don't want to damage the paint.

I used the heat gun (ok, actually the wife's hairdryer - don't tell her) and pulled the sticker off.  This left me with a mess of glue.  I tried a bunch of stuff before finally parting with $4 for something called "Goof-off".  Stuff worked great.  Wipe it on the glue, let it sit for about two or three minutes and scrape with a plastic scraper with a rag wrapped over the edge (keeps it from scratching the laminate).

Good luck.

I'm all for stripping sideart, but the wife won't let me have any .......   opps, I thought we were talking about something else.

And before anyone else does it, I'll do it first....
