I'm still having this wierd problem with my coin slot.
On the majority of games I play, the coin slots work perfectly. Yet on other games, mostly fighting games for some reason, the coin slot just will not send the signal, but you can still press the 5,6 keys and get your credit.
I've verified that the coin door is sending the signal correctly in notepad and DOS. I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to increase the sensitivity of the coin door so that it 'holds it down' long enough for the game to get the signal. I'm using the Happ over/under coin doo w/ the Ipac

In MAME settings, is it set to 2 or 3 coins per credit for the games where it isn't working propery? (look at game settings rather than general MAME settings).
I don't have the same coin mech as you, but can you see the swith that triggers when a coin is inserted?
Can you try pressing it manually with one of the problematic games loaded. This might help you locate the problem / bend the contact on the microswich etc...
Good luck with it.
It is not a problem I've heard before.

Yeah if i open the coin door and hit the switch on the mech myself for these games, it'll respond, but the coin just doesn't seem to be making it hold long enough to go through.

maybe you have to take a little pair of needle-nose pliers, and bend that wire up slightly, so that the coin/token/slug/whatever contacts it EARLIER... it will also depress the switch slightly farther. can't hurt... unless you bend it too much, in which case it'll lodge the coin in the mech, and it'll be a b***h to get it out... ;D
good luck! --Dave_B (haha)

do these games runs full speed?
i could imagine games running slower would need the buttom held down longer time to actually pickup the signal.
