Title: Player 1 & Player 2 Button at the same time Causing Mame to exit and mamewah
Post by: mrclean on April 02, 2006, 09:07:42 pm
Basically I was playing a game with my friend we both died at the same time, so we quickly hit the "player 1" and "player 2" button ... we hit them at the same time which caused our long progress and button bleeding fun come to a hault! How can I make sure this doesn't exit mame / as well as mamewah while pressed simultaniously.  ???

Just change the button mapping so that your exit keypress isn't mapped to P1 Start + P2 Start

Well, assuming your using an I-Pac as your encoder, use the I-Pac config utility to change it  :banghead:

Well....you would've gotten a cd with your IPac, on that cd is the config program.  Run the config program and change the shift function of the player 2 button to nothing.  If you don't have the cd then you can download it here: http://www.ultimarc.com/ipac3.html

alright...i'm hoping this isn't a stupid add-on question or something easy, but what other problems might one run into when using a minipac and mame/mamewah?

recently, i've had the gamma bar and the menu opening up in mame while someone is playing.  is this all a result of the shift feature or does the minipac even have the option?

i should probably just rtfm...

I removed all of the shift features (P1 + Other Buttons) from my ipac programming.  That made it kid proof (ie: the wierd stuff like gamma and volume quit magically appearing as 10 year olds mashed on the buttons), I then changed the pause button on my control panel to escape in the ipaq, and that is all i need.  Anything else, tab, enter etc I just pull the keyboard out for because it is not needed in normal usage.  Once you load the utility you will find that it is very straight forward to use.
