So here is my basic CPO I made, but I just have a simple question.
I used Illustrator's automatic trace function for the pic in the middle and I'm afraid that it will be too blocky when it is printed. So if someone could just have a look at it and tell me how its gonna look when it's printed I would really appreciate it.
I made it in RGB mode at 300dpi, but I had to compress it into .jpg in order to attach it to the thread. If its too small to tell I might have to find some other hosting option.
And please keep in mind it's not finished yet ;D

What do you mean by 'the pic in the middle'? Am I missing something? I see a palm-sunset type of image, should there also be a vectorlike logo/graphic in there?
-
Actually everything in the middle is the picture I vectorized. That means the sunset, the people, the palm trees, ... everything. The only thing I did by hand is the black border and the red trim. ;D
If you can tell the picture extends beyond the black border but I will end up cutting that off.
The original pic can be found here (http://www.depthcore.com/v5/view/2616/).

Depends on how big the original print size of the file is in comparison to how big it's actually going to be printed.

you can't make an automatic trace on a photo like that. the result is just horrible
and it is also impossible to trace the image by hand, unless you have extreme skills..
(the original image is beatiful by the way!)

Thanks for the replies.
Not to say your wrong by any means Biron, (because I'm the newbie here) but I printed a portion of it on my home printer. Granted it didn't look to great because my printer adds "scan lines" to the image, but it seems to look fairly good. If I looked fairly close it did seem a little blocky "pixelated" but it wasn't overly bad. Plus I think the pixelated look is kinda cool for acade machines, as long as it isn't blurry.
Would a company's printer, such as Mame Marquees, print in a much greater detail or would it still look fairly similar? (without the "scan lines" of course)
Sorry to be asking so much, but I kinda had my heart set on this image and another one I was going to use for my marquee which would also be impossible to trace by hand. (especially for me)
oh and BTW Photoshop claims the image to be 4 in x 1.697 in before tracing, and my CP is 31 in x 11 in. So ya I'm stretching it quite a bit.

It will look terrible stretched out that far. Not trying to be negative, just honest.

alright back the the drawing board I guess. At least I didn't really work that much on it.
Thanks for the help.

It's hard to find a good jpeg big enough to stretch like that. You can see on my overlay, I had to use vectors for anything big.
