I've been looking on ebay but have yet to have any luck so far. I'd prefer a arachnid galaxy with the video monitor, but I might go with a valley cougar or similar if the price is right.
Unforunately there aren't any auctions in my area (Southern Minnesota) but I've heard that coinOp dartboards usually go for a couple hundred at auctions.
I drive to Chicago a lot on the weekends, so I'd be willing to pick up a dartboard anywhere along I-90 between MN and Chicago. Also anywhere in Southern MN or near the twin cities would be ok too. I'd prefer to stay around $500, but would be willing to go higher if the machine is in really good condition.
I've been checking the classified ads in my area too without much luck. Seems like no one plays darts around here! Of course I haven't had any luck finding any arcade related items in my area so far.

I have an Arachnid "Super 6" Plus II available in Dallas, TX. It is missing a couple of parts, but they are easy (and cheap) to find on eBay. $100, and you arrange shipping/pickup. Even with shipping, that will be well below your $500 limit.
It needs the monitor power supply board (attaches to the top of the main powers supply). The last one I saw went unsold on eBay for $9.99. And it needs the swittch matrix (eBay prices from $0.01 to $30).

Thanks for the offers on the super 6 plus II's, but I talked to the wife and she has her heart set on the arachnid galaxy. She's not a fan of the yellow dartboard. I can't complain, because atleast she's letting me have a dartboard :)

Another thing about that. I don't think the super 6's have the double bull. Is this correct? I believe that was a turn off when I bought mine.
-
hi
on the double bull do you mean the center target has an outside and inside scoreing
-
yes

I have a super 6 plus II and you have the option for a double bull. Flip one dip switch and buy the double bull board insert from Happ ($5.60 I think) and you're good to go. That was one of the first things I did when I picked up mine.

I finally bit the bullet and bought an Arachnid Galaxy II. It cost a lot more than the $500 I originally wanted to spend, but cosmetically it's almost new and have been playing so much since I picked it up on Sunday that my arm hurts everynight when I go to bed.
Now if only I could find a place locally which sells bar darts. Don't want to wait the 3-5 days for my online order to come in.
-
Very nice! I bet that cost a bit.
-
Not trying to hijack your thread but since you got your machine I figured why not :). I like the bar boards but hate throwing plactic tips. I bought one of these awhile back and it works pretty well. It uses what they call Bristletech technology and you can use both plastic and metal darts and still have electronic scoring. There are several models available. Her's the one I picked up. Just in case anyones interested.

I have a friend that has a bristletech dartboard. It's nice, but I almost exclusively play darts in bars, so I like the soft tip plastic flight darts. I'm actually having a problem finding "bar darts" locally. I have 2 online orders, but they're not supposed to come until monday or tuesday and I have friends coming over this weekend to play darts.
-
Do you want actual bar darts or just good plastic tip darts? A lot of the ones at Dick's sporting goods have both type tips.
-
I want bar darts. The all plastic ones that cost about $3 online. You can't recreate the bar feel at home without the cheap darts. Unfortunately, there is no Dick's sporting goods around here, just sportmart.
-
Have you checked billiard supply places near you?
-
I haven't checked any billiards supply stores yet, but I'm hoping to hit up 1 or 2 after work today.
-
You guys know you can order the bar darts at Happs online right? They are local for me but that's where I bought some Arachnid parts (double bull insert & new monitor plastic cover) and darts (I like the brass base with the plastic flights (bar darts).

I wish I would have thought to look at Happs!
These are exactly what I'm looking for http://www.happcontrols.com/amusement/darts_foos/26107410.htm (http://www.happcontrols.com/amusement/darts_foos/26107410.htm)
Throw in a couple hundred of these tips
http://www.happcontrols.com/clearance/38027000.htm (http://www.happcontrols.com/clearance/38027000.htm)
and 1 of these throw lines
http://www.happcontrols.com/amusement/darts_foos/26109100.htm (http://www.happcontrols.com/amusement/darts_foos/26109100.htm)
and I'd be set. Instead I bought them online from 2 different places. And neither will have them shipped here by saturday. I had no clue Happs sold so much stuff!
