Title: Interesting Pole Position Australian cocktail cabinet.
Post by: captainpotato on March 25, 2006, 08:55:10 pm
I'm not normally one for posting eBay auctions here, but if there's somebody in the Penrith (Australia, that is) area, maybe you'll be interested: it's an Australian/Japanese-style cocktail cabinet for Pole Position. It's not in the best condition (not to mention incomplete), but I'd snap it up without a doubt if I were a little closer to it :P

I've never seen one like it before - has anybody else?

Here's the auction (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6265077189).

It looks like a hack to me.  The wheel is so large, how would a person sit and play it?

That was my initial thought, but if so, it's done fairly well - look at the laminate on the left-hand end, for instance. That end is non-standard (in comparison with a normal cocktail cabinet), plus the coin mech is on the wrong side (usually on the right). You may well be right, if either way, it looks like the cab may have been pretty cool once.

You're right though, playing it may have been a different matter ;)
