My previous arcade ran off of an xbox and when it would boot up it would neatly list all the emulators you could choose from. I'm switching it over to run off a PC. It seems to me that I use a trackball or a mouse to go into the program like mame or something and then choose my game. Btw why is the only version of MAME on MAME.net DOS? Do you have to open a command prompt and type "mame [name of game]" everytime you want to play a game? Very confused newb :dizzy:

You can use the DOS MAME version with a frontend (FE) that will make it look all pretty and bring up game lists, etc.
You can also have the FrontEnd load up on bootup so you don't actually have to manually start any program.
Go read the FAQ and Wiki on this site, and spend a few minutes in the Software forum, You'll get a lot of answers there.
And one more thing... Don't ask "what's the best Frontend?" There isn't one.. just go try some.

Probably the best/easiest version of MAME to use for newbies is MAME32. It's all GUI based, no command line stuff to worry about:

Or command-line windows version - they are similar but not the same.
