Shows score up the center of the screen and splits the start screen. Already checked connectors and reseated the chips.

i do remember many moons ago when i was a trainee my tutor telling me about graphic rom faults on galaxians, possibly this is what you have, did the fault just occurr or was it the result of some servicing?
-
It was like that when I got it. This thin ghas sat in storage for a long time. I'm thinking I have a chip with corroded legs. I popped some of them off and cleaned them last night, but I think I need to recheck the custom ICs.
-
Ok, so I ended up replacing the 00XX chip that I fried. Then the graphics got glitchy a different way.....I had a leg broken on the 06XX chip (these custom ICs ar ekilling me!).
Tonight I inserted it into a new machined pin socket, soldered on a new leg, and put it back onto the board. Fired up the game and this is what I get now. Any help? I've already looked at some repair logs and this issue isn't addressed.
(the screen was rolling, but that is actually what the grpahics look like anyway.)

same problem just different result, still graphic ic fault-how did you fry your original,by inserting it upside down??? :banghead:

Yep! The stupid thing is, I've been doing chip swaps on pcbs for almost 15 years (used to work on slot machines). I guess everyone gets sloppy sometimes. :dizzy:

have you done anything else with the board e.g replaced an ic socket?
-
Nope, the sockets all look good. The original problem came back to dirty contacts on a custom IC. Turns out they are all corroded badly. Random ones keep failing now.

check all your ics are in the correct sockets, check for bent legs(sometimes you can't see them unless you unseat the ic)its got to be something in that realm
