Title: Happs 49ways
Post by: MikeQ on March 22, 2006, 11:57:59 am
Anyone know the diameter of the shaft on this stick?  I have a loaner set  of the old Midway style but I'm told that the ones Happ currently sells have a larger shaft.

Thanks,

Mike

The HAPP 49-ways are .310" +/- a half thou.

The grommets, on the other hand, tend to be all over the place.  The number stamped on them is .313" but there seems to be a tolerance of at least a couple of thousandths one way or the other.  That's why I recommend a "personalized" fit for any replacement shaft going into these grommets.  A little stick slop on a Competition is no big deal.  But on these, it can be very offensive because of the shaft length and the possibility of unintentionally actuating the first level sensors.

It's not the size of the shaft, but the magic inside....or something like that... :P

If you're talkin about me, they normally say, "that asshat doesn't have anything useful to contribute, so he just posts stupid jokes, and makes people mad, and doesn't listen, and  blah, blah, blah....."   -  its true  ;D

You been talkin' to my wife?  You can't believe a word she says....it was just cold I tell you, there was shrinkage!........... >:(.......... 8)

You know what they say about people who say that about people who say things like that.... ;D

I guess you got the "joystick magic" covered, eh?...Nice arcade products BTW..

Do the Happs 49ways accept competition, 360 or super shafts?

no.  The shafts are different in diameter and length.

It is possible to do with a Wico stick, but it requires replacing the grommet and fashioning an extension for the shaft.
