Okay, so in my haste to install the joystick, and without any instructions to guide me, I practically take the entire thing apart only to find out all I needed was to loosen 2 small screws. :(
So I put the thing back together, and I'm wondering if I've done a couple of things correctly. Forgive me for not knowing the names of parts but here goes...
Should the rotary wheel be place centered within the U shaped optical interface like in the attached pic? Also, when reattaching the optic board, it seems like the metal holder is very close to two of the metal parts of the optic board (see pic). Is that how it's supposed to be? If someone who has one of these joysticks could take a look I would really appreciate it!

That pic may help you. I don't have one myself, but you may be able to figure it out from the exploded view.

Thanks Point. I used that guide to help me disassemble and reassemble. Unfortunately it doesn't help with the last two issues I have. I could just wire the thing up to test out the wheel placement I guess, but I don't want to risk messing up the optic board if issue #2 is a problem. Thanks for the heads up though!

The encoder wheel should be between the two optics, just as you have it. As for the mounting bracket being so close to the compontents on the optic PCB, I dunno. I don't actually have one of those sticks to compare with. But, as long as there's no actual metal-to-metal contact, it ought to be fine.
